10 Reasons to Switch to LED lighting in your Home, Office or Warehouse

10 Reasons to Switch to LED lighting in your Home, Office or Warehouse

Here are 10 great reasons why we recommend you switch to LED lighting in your home, office, or warehouse:

1. Long Life
The number one benefit of LED lights is their long lifespan. The expected operational lifespan of LED bulbs is an outstanding 100,000 hours. Lasting 11 years of continuous operation or 22 years at 50% operation.
If you used your LED lights for 8 hours a day it would be 20 years from when you first put them in before you would have to worry about changing them. A standard incandescent bulb lasts only approximately 1,200 hours which if used 8 hours a day would mean changing it within the first year.

2. Energy Efficiency
Not far behind long life comes energy efficiency. This is where you really start to save money by reducing your power bill. With the estimated efficiency of most LED bulbs being between 80% and 90%. This means that of the power the LED bulb is using, 80% of that is being converted into light and only 20% is being converted into other forms of energy such as heat. Your standard incandescent bulb has an estimated efficiency of only 20% with electricity losses through heat being a huge 80%.
If your lighting portion of your power bill is $150 and you’re using standard incandescent bulbs you are wasting $120 on heat from your lights, switching to LED bulbs would drop this bill down to approximately $40 saving you $110 a month on your power bill.

3. Ecologically Friendly
Unlike many other forms of lighting such as florescent tubes and “energy saver” bulbs (CFL’s) which contain materials such as mercury which are harmful to the environment  LED lights are completely free of toxic chemicals and are 100% recyclable.
With their long lifespan for every LED bulb you use instead of an incandescent bulb will save the production of 25 incandescent bulbs and puts us one step closer to a cleaner greener future!

4. Durable Quality
LEDS are built with very robust components that are extremely durable and designed to withstand even the harshest condition.
Perfect for outdoor lighting! With their high resistance to vibrations, shock and severe weather LED lights are perfect for lighting in all environments from lighting your house, garden lighting, yard lighting to lighting a busy machine in your factory.

5. Zero UV Emissions
LED lights produce very little infrared light and almost no UV emissions.
LED lights are exactly what you need to light your art galleries or museums, where objects on display may be sensitive to UV light. With their low running temperature LED lights are also perfect for lighting any goods that may be sensitive to heat.

6. Design Flexibility
With the increasing demand for LED lighting there is now more variety than ever before from bulbs that can be dimmed to colour changing strips there is no end to the incredible lighting effects you can get in your home, bar, restaurant or shop to capture someone’s eye change the atmosphere or even alter the mood of the room.
Airplanes and classrooms are already using LED mood illumination and over the next few years you can expect to see it applied in even more places.

7. Operational in Extremely Cold Temperatures
LEDs can operate perfectly under cold or freezing conditions making them perfect for use in outdoor environments that get extremely cold during the winter or in freezer chillers and cold stores.
If conventional lighting is causing you problems in your freezer or cold stores you should consider changing to a led equivalent with the ability to be turned off and on with ease under low temperatures, their low running temperature and low running cost, LED’s are an obvious choice.

8. Light Dispersement
LED’s are designed to focus its light making LED lighting the perfect way to light up a specific location. If you are looking for a more even spread of light modern designed LED bulbs and light fittings use diffusers to evenly spread the light.
If you’re considering what lights to use in your shop consider LED lighting. LED’s are exactly what you need to put a spot light on your shop front display and create an exceptional ambient light in your showroom to give your shop the perfect atmosphere your customers.

9. Instant Lighting & Frequent Switching
Unlike incandescent bulbs and “energy saver” bulbs LED lights reach full brightness almost immediately. This is not only useful for traffic and signal lights where you need instant light but also is great for most general lighting where you don’t want to have to wait for lights to heat up before you can actually see.  LED’s are also able to be switched on and off frequently without effecting the brightness of the light or effecting the over all life span of the led.
If you have traditional lights such as incandescent or florescent lamps every time you switch them on and off you have to wait for the lamps to brighten but you are also dramatically reducing the life span of that light. With LED’s you get instant light and it has no effect on the life span of the light.

10. Low-Voltage
LED’s only need a low voltage to operate and illuminate effectively. This is not only a safer option but also makes it easy connect to a solar panel perfect for lighting in remote areas.
Have a barn on your farm that is no where near a power source simply install a solar panel and a battery and that is all you need to power your LED’s to light up your barn.

Meadway Renovations Project WIP

We are in the process of completing all the electrical work required for kitchen and bathroom renovations at a residential property in Sunny Hills. This property is going to look great with a brand new fitted kitchen and bathroom - especially compared to what was there before!

For this project we have:
Installed Replacement/Upgraded New Switchboard
Installed a main switch in the meter cabinet, as there was not one before
Installed (cost effective) Led lighting
Installation and wiring for new kitchen
Alterations to existing power and lighting circuits
Alteration to TV and phone wall outlets in lounge

Still to be completed:
installing heated towel rail in bathroom
installing extractor fan and lights in bathroom

Our customer has a fairly tight budget for their renovations so we have worked out a great price for the electrical part of the project without compromising on the quality of the service we provide.

Here are the work in progress photos...stay tuned for the 'after' photos...
